The price of Fornebubanen continues to grow. Now it is NOK 200 million more expensive due to a home office.
Fornebubanen is the project where the price never stops growing. In 2013, it would cost NOK 4.5 billion. Today, it is estimated to be around NOK 18 billion with price growth.
To finance the project, both tolls and large government grants are needed. The state says they will take half the bill. In addition, NOK 5 billion in tolls will be collected.

200 million bang
At a meeting of the city council’s transportation committee, the status of the project was recently explained. In one of the plans, the Fornebubanen secretariat has evaluated the consequences of the coronavirus. They have estimated that costs will increase by around NOK 100-200 million as a consequence of the coronavirus.
– Home offices are supposed to provide lower productivity due to less interaction between customer, supplier, contractor and internally in these organizations, writes the Fornebubanen secretariat in the presentation.

– How did it get like this?
– This is related to lower productivity in the home office situation in the client organization, consultants and our suppliers. We haven’t had a specific cost increase related to this in 2020, but we fear the consequences will only become apparent over time, says Line Fredriksen communications manager for Fornebubanen.
She emphasizes that the project’s cost framework has not been modified on this basis.

– Unacceptable
The leader of the Progress Party group in the city hall, Camilla Wilhelmsen, believes this is “unacceptable”.
– It is not acceptable that the costs of the Fornebu line grow as a result of employees having a home office. Fornebubanen has a cost framework to deal with, and we must assume that they really do stay within this framework, he tells Nettavisen.

There is a lot of frustration surrounding the giant project that will create better connections with Fornebu, where there are thousands of jobs. Former telecom chief Jon Fredrik Baksaas believes politicians have been long overdue.
– I don’t remember the wording well, but I think the county mayor, Anette Solli (H), said at the time that “I can almost guarantee that the course is underway in 2021.” She has faced this case on several occasions, Baksaas told Nettavisen.
Now Fornebubanen is not expected to be ready until 2027.
