The Straumdal Tunnel in Rødøy will be closed during periods of the day in connection with maintenance. The work will continue until Easter.
– In the Straumdal tunnel, there is a problem with ice and humidity, and now we will change the protection against water and frost so that the tunnel becomes drier. This is extensive work and we anticipate it to last until around Easter 2021, says construction manager Runar Gregussen in Nordland County Township.
During this period other maintenance work will also be carried out, such as rock protection.
The Straumdal Tunnel is 3.2 kilometers long and was opened to traffic in 1992.
Closed for periods
The works will begin on Monday, November 23.
– Inside the tunnel, we have machines, equipment and people on the road, so we have to limit traffic. There will be fixed closing times, and traffic must follow the guide car in any case, Gregussen says.
The tunnel is closed daily from 9:00 to 9:45, from 12:00 to 12:55 and 13:00 to 13:50.
Apart from this, there are major driving cars in the period from 07:00 to 19:00, the waiting time is approximately 20 minutes.
Emergency vehicles may pass, the county municipality says.
There are Christmas holidays at weeks 52 and 53. The odd week late late week pairs in 2021 did not work in 2020.
