– Players who have tested positive have been in quarantine at the player’s hotel since the national team match ended on Saturday. They did not want to risk spreading the infection by going home, and they have followed infection control rules with the use of bandages and practiced social distancing. The players have not had contact with other people, says the team doctor, Ola Sand.
Glimt can secure the league gold on Sunday night in the game against Godset. It is still uncertain whether the match will take place without Berg and Lode.
– It is a bit premature to say what happens to the matches of the teams in the next round of the elite series. We have of course been in contact with the clubs in question, Bodø / Glimt and Rosenborg, but it has not been decided what will happen to their matches against Strømsgodset and Brann on Sunday and Tuesday, said NFF Competition Director Nils Fisketjønn, to Nettavisen on Friday.
It says all three players have been in quarantine since Omar Elabdellaoui tested positive for the crown on November 12.
– They have not been in contact with the rest of the players on their teams. We will make a statement during the day about what will happen with the teams’ upcoming matches, says Fisketjønn.
Players’ clubs have been notified and the three infected now remain in isolation, NFF reports.
– UEFA’s protocol takes into account the risk of infection, but the goal is to eliminate more infections internally and prevent infection in society at large. In our case, the total isolation of the infected player was the first step. This was probably contagious the same day the positive test was taken (Thursday 11/12). The rules for infection control have been followed, but it is most likely that one or more players have had enough contact with the player in question to become infected. All three players are virtually symptom-free Friday night, Sand says.
