The corona pandemic has led many with different levels of education to apply for the same jobs. In Bærum, more than 230 people applied for the position of dog handler.

The Bærum dog kindergarten received more than 230 applications for the dog sitter position. Among the applicants were several who had previously worked as waiters, chefs, carpenters, in stores and people in the information technology industry, writes Budstikka.
– This is a mirror image of Norway in 2020. The pandemic has hit the Norwegian economy hard. Unemployment has roughly doubled from the same period last year, chief economist Øystein Dørum at NHO tells the newspaper.
In Asker and Bærum, the share of the unemployed in tourism and transport has increased by 25 per cent, while in the service profession the share is 15.4 per cent.
Dørum says that crises like the corona pandemic will leave lasting traces on the job market, but that unemployment will return to normal in a couple of years, even if the image we have of the job market changes.
– There will probably be a different composition of demand, production and employment. A new normal, says the chief economist.
