Corona infection among young people is constantly increasing, and at week 46 the age group 13 to 19 years had the highest number of cases in relation to the population.

However, according to the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, young people tend to have a milder course of the disease than older people. However, young people with no known risk factors can also have a severe course of the disease.

Gard Hagen (19) from Lørenskog is one of the young people infected in week 46. When he woke up with a bad cold on Saturday morning, he decided to get tested for covid-19 the following Monday.

Now Hagen must remain in isolation until Tuesday. He doesn’t know why the virus hit him so hard, but he suspects it may have something to do with the fact that he was diagnosed with kissing disease this winter.

– Now I just sit in my room, play and watch movies, he says.

Aimed at young people

At the press conference on November 13, Prime Minister Erna Solberg (H) spoke directly to adolescents and encouraged them to take responsibility and be very careful with infection control measures, such as washing their hands.

– We do this in solidarity with older people and other vulnerable groups, Solberg said.

However, he emphasized that it is important not to exclude individual groups from society.
