The royal couple are in quarantine. The castle is reported in a press release. The reason is that a court employee has been diagnosed with the coronavirus.
Queen Sonja has had close contact with the person in question.
“Today Covid-19 has been detected in an employee of the Royal Court. His Majesty the King is in self-imposed home quarantine. His Majesty the Queen is in quarantine as a result of close contact with the person in question,” the statement said press.
Furthermore, it appears that the royal couple is asymptomatic. 14 employees of the Royal Court are also in quarantine.
“The court has routines that are in line with the rules and recommendations of the authorities related to infection control, including the practice of remote regulations, the use of masks, intensive cleaning and hand hygiene, as well as the use of offices at home, “the press release reads.
– Accelerated things
As a result of the quarantine, the king will address the minister next Friday by phone from Bygdøy Kongsgård. The Crown Prince will have an audience with the President of Estonia.
The royal couple’s show in the future will also be updated as a result of the quarantine, the castle claims.
Dagbladet has contacted the castle’s communications director, Guri Varpe, who has nothing to add beyond what appears in the press release.
Dagbladet has also not received a response on whether the royal couple have been tested for covid-19.
– restrictive
See and hear expert Caroline Vagle tells Dagbladet that the royal couple are likely to be careful to follow infection control rules as they are both in the coronavirus risk group.
– The royal couple follow the recommended infection control rules and as I interpret the message, the king is even more restrictive than that. It is not surprising. It is relatively new and is probably very careful. Both are also in the risk group due to age, and we just have to hope that they are not infected and remain healthy, says Vagle.
King Harald underwent heart valve surgery earlier this fall and was therefore on sick leave for a longer period. In November, however, he was discharged, thus returning to his royal duties.
