– There will be gusts of wind so strong that we have sent a hazard warning at the yellow level, says on-duty meteorologist Jon Austerheim at the Dagbladet Meteorological Institute.

At night, it can blow up to 20 to 25 seconds inland, he says.

– It is well above normal, but it happens especially at this time of year.

Encourage everyone to secure loose items and ask people to know that the wind is so strong that trees can fall.

They also claim that many roads are closed as a result of heavy rains. In some parts of downtown, water rises through the sewer covers, police write.

For Vestland, a hazard warning has been issued at the orange level for precipitation, and NVE also has a hazard warning at the same level for floods and landslides.

– The orange warning is quite a lot, the meteorologist emphasizes, and warns that there may be surface water in densely populated areas, that roads may be closed, and that streams and rivers may flow along their banks.

The landslide and flood hazard warning is valid until around noon Thursday, while rainfall is expected to subside into the evening.

Also in western Norway it blows well on Wednesday night, with forecasters warning that gusts are expected to be more than 30 meters per second. The wind will decrease a bit on Thursday morning, but will pick up again in the morning with the same force, NTB writes.
