Around 100 to 200 meters above sea level, 20 to 40 centimeters of snow is expected, writes the Norwegian Meteorological Institute in a warning. Most of the snow is expected in the mountains and on Møre og Romsdal.
Snow has also been reported in inner parts of Vestland County. Especially in Nordfjord, there can be a lot of snow locally.
– Tomorrow there will be strong winds from the northwest, especially at night. Then there will be a transition to snow showers and sleet all the way to the rocks at the pier, state meteorologist Frode Hassel tells NRK.no.
The amount of snow will vary greatly locally.
Can be skiable
Meteorologists advise people to use the right tires and drive according to conditions. Also calculate the extra time if you are going to go out with the car.
There may be column driving on the mountain and possibly closed roads. There are also reports of snowstorms in the mountainous areas of southern Norway.
For those who want a ski trip, there may also be opportunities for it, according to the meteorologist.
– If you are a little up in the heights and wait until around Thursday, the snow has likely settled in the interior and higher regions. There will be a lot of rainfall on Thursday, but you may not get enough ground as it is the first snow to come. But the most diligent go out on skis anyway, Hassel says.
Warm november
It has been a special autumn, but with great fluctuations in temperature.
Tafjord on Møre og Romsdal reached 18.1 degrees on Tuesday and broke the record for this time of year
Åndalsnes was 16.2 degrees.
– Not very unusual. When we receive wind from completely different air masses, the temperature can drop ten degrees in half an hour in certain situations. But this is probably the first fresh air this season, so it’ll feel good, Hassel says.
