– It’s been mild weather for a long time in November, but now there’s real winter weather, says on-call meteorologist Pernille Borander at the Dagbladet Meteorological Institute.
The Norwegian Meteorological Institute has already issued a yellow warning for snow in many places in the country, including Møre og Romsdal, Trøndelag, parts of western Norway and the mountains of southern Norway.
However, it is the northernmost areas of Trøndelag and Møre og Romsdal that will receive the most snow.
– It seems that it will measure about 20-40 cm. There will likely be snow in the lowlands as well, but at 100-200 meters above sea level it will settle properly, says Borander.
– You have to think with what type of tires you drive and calculate the overtime. It can be tough driving conditions locally, he continues.
If you drive on summer tires, there can be unfortunate consequences, warns Borander.
This can ensure readiness
Soft air for the weekend.
Further west in Agder, there may be snow or sleet. But for southern Norway, the weather ahead is just “a winter bluff,” says Boranger.
– Low pressures are clear in a row, so there will already be warm air this weekend. On Saturday there will be another low pressure with rain.
Also in parts of northern Norway it may soon become milder.
– Northern Norway does keep a bit of fresh air, although it can be a bit bad and possibly warmer in Nordland.
In the far north, however, it will stay cool.
Long awaited sun
In eastern Norway, there may be snow in the northernmost areas of the interior, the Borander states.
However, much of eastern Norway can look forward to some much-anticipated sunshine on Thursday and Friday.
– In Oslo, it seems that Friday will be cooler with north winds, but as long as it does not blow so much, it can still feel a bit warm.
Friday in particular will be a glorious day, he says.
– Then you can enjoy the sun.
