The Norwegian Football Association requests that the crown-canceled League of Nations match against Romania, possibly decided by lottery, be rescheduled.

The national team players were in Gardermoen and were to fly to Bucharest on Saturday when the Norwegian Health Directorate issued a counter-notification and did not allow them to travel to Romania. Instead, he was quarantined after Omar Elabdellaoui tested positive for corona.

Then UEFA decided to cancel the match.

In a letter to UEFA sent tonight, the NFF requests that the match be played.

– We argue that the fight must be rethought. Otherwise, it should be decided by a draw in which the result is set at 1-0, 0-0 or 0-1, the football association’s director of competition, Nils Fisketjønn, tells VG.

UEFA’s “crown rules”, which were sent out on August 31, state that if neither national association is responsible for the match not being played, it could be reformulated or decided by lottery.

– If no one can be charged for the cancellation, it is an alternative to reframe or run a lottery. We are proceeding with that. We are innocent in this situation and we were quarantined. Then it was time to put a reserve team in short supply, says Nils Fisketjønn.

– Should a decision be available before Norway take on Austria on Wednesday?

– We bet UEFA can decide this tomorrow. This decision has been transferred to the UEFA Appeals Committee. They make the decision directly.

According to Fisketjønn, UEFA has been aware that a positive test in Norway would lead to quarantine.

– The Norwegian definition of close contacts has been discussed with UEFA, the national team and the club environment. We have been aware of this risk, and that is why we have dealt with municipal doctors during club and international matches and held several meetings.

UEFA rules also state that the administration of the European Football Association can reschedule a match at a later date and that it can also be added to a neutral country among member nations.
