For western Norway and northern Rogaland, NVE warns of the second highest danger level, the orange level, for floods and landslides. In Hordaland and Sogn, a lot of rain and the same degree of danger are expected.
The level is used in a serious situation that occurs infrequently, requires emergency preparedness, and can cause serious injury.
On Tuesday, the forecast has been expanded with Bykle, Sandnes, Strand and Gjesdal.
The groundwater level and the degree of water saturation in the soil are already very high. Much precipitation is expected, locally it can reach up to 150 millimeters during Tuesday and Wednesday.
There will be heavier rains from Wednesday morning through Wednesday night. This leads to an increased risk of landslides and floods. Steep slopes, as well as flowing streams and rivers, are particularly vulnerable.
NVE expects many landslides, some of which can have major consequences. Major incidents can hit buildings, roads or railways.
Along streams in flood areas, large water flows can lead to mass excavation at the foot of slopes.
