On the night of Friday, November 13, a 26-year-old Trondheim woman went to her local Rema store to buy some chips and pick up a package.
With it was a bag of empty bottles that she had rushed together during a little clean-up before the weekend. The 26 crowns he received as a mortgage he donated, as he usually does, to the Mortgage Lottery.
When she returned home a few minutes later, she was wet with tears of joy and a million kronor richer.
– I was completely in shock. I was nauseous and dizzy and thought I was going to pass out, the woman tells Dagbladet.
You can’t watch this on TV.
Find commas
An abnormally long patch came out of the pawn shop. The note was turned the other way and the machine did not make a sound, the 26-year-old explains to Dagbladet, who wishes to remain anonymous.
By pure coincidence, he still turned the note over before he was about to throw it away. Then he realized it was saying “Congratulations !!!” over a number with many zeros. He looked for a comma in the row of numbers, but thought it would have to be a thousand crowns.
In the end, he had to get a store clerk to confirm that he had actually made a million.
– I was completely shocked and was about to pass out in front of the pawn shop. Then I started laughing in front of the whole long line at the Rema store, he tells Dagbladet.
When Dagbladet talks to the winner on Saturday, she is still completely shocked and describes the victory as “surreal.” The woman’s partner, who was not at home at the time, also demanded photographic evidence before being convinced it was true, she explains.
The 26-year-old has a temporary position, but at the moment she does not know if she will have a job beyond January. She doesn’t own her own home either.
– Equity, future savings for retirement, now everything will be different. With this profit, I get completely new opportunities and financial security for the future, he says.
A woman in her 30s became a Lotto millionaire
– Unbelievably nice
– First I want to congratulate the new mortgage millionaire! So I have to thank everyone who pushes the Red Cross button. You should know that your contribution is very important to us as a volunteer organization, says Marita Hoel Fossen, general manager of the Trondheim Red Cross, to Dagbladet.
Rema 1000 Solsiden trader Willy Sivertsvik is also very happy on behalf of the winner.
– It is incredibly good that one of our clients wins. We need good news now, says grocer Willy Sivertsvik at Rema 1000 Solsiden to Dagbladet.
– There are many who give their commitment to the Red Cross with us, which provide important funds for humanitarian work here in the city. It seems that there are more who are more generous in this special time that we are going through now.
