Atle Brynestad’s SeaDream 1 cruise ship likely ended up in the crown quarantine, as the first ship in the Caribbean after the crown launch.
The Brynestad company SeaDream Yacht Club owns the SeaDream 1 cruise ship. The ship was the first cruise ship to return for a cruise in the Caribbean since the corona pandemic broke out and ended earlier this year.
But this is not the first time Brynestad has had a corona outbreak on SeaDream 1. A Danish passenger tested the virus in early August after being on the cruise from Tromsø to Denmark. However, a passenger tells Nettavisen that there were no outbreaks on the August trip.
Regardless, now SeaDream 1 passengers have tested positive for the coronavirus, according to the company’s website. Passengers are asked to isolate themselves in the cabins until the ship has returned to Barbados.
“This is not good for the cruise industry,” tourism reporter Gene Sloan, who is aboard the cruise, told CNN Travel.
None of the crew
SeaDream Yacht Club writes that immediately after the positive test results were discovered, they contacted local authorities. The ship was then out of the Netherlands Antilles.
The ship’s medical personnel have examined the entire crew and none of these tests should be positive.
– After completing a successful summer season in Norway, we have implemented even more stringent health and safety routines for the winter season in Barbados. All the passengers have been tested twice, Atle Brynestad’s son Andreas Brynestad tells the website.

– We work closely with local health authorities to resolve the situation in the best possible way. Our top priority is the health and safety of the crew, guests and the places we visit, he continues.
All cruise ship passengers and ordinary members of the ship’s crew are now in quarantine. Seadream is now awaiting approval from the Barbados authorities to safely land passengers.

Frequent tests
SeaDream is trying to sell the dream of a Caribbean cruise by promising passengers to try before the trip and before boarding.
– Seadream also tested the passengers for four days on the trip, and they will be tested again today. It’s a stricter testing regimen than most cruise companies have talked about before they start over, reporter Gene Sloan tells CNN.
SeaDream is not a large cruise ship, with a capacity of 112 passengers and a crew of 95. There are now 53 passengers and 66 crew on board.
CNN has asked the shipping company how many people on board have tested positive for the coronavirus without getting a response. According to the website, none of the crew members have tested positive.

Severe flare-ups
Cruise ships were subject to several severe corona outbreaks in the early stages of the corona pandemic. Here at home, this summer’s Hurtigruten eruption received a lot of attention.
Atle Brynestad founded the SeaDream Cruise Line company in 1987. The twin yachts SeaDream 1 and II began sailing in 2001.
