Color Line and Fjord Line have stopped ferry passenger traffic between Denmark and Norway, but exceptions have been made for people with socially critical tasks.

On Monday, Danish authorities introduced restrictions in North Jutland, and Color Line said on the same day that they would stop passenger traffic to Denmark.
The transport of goods is exempt from the new regulations. The same is true of people in socially critical roles. There are also some exceptions for passengers who have holiday homes in Denmark or people returning to Norway, writes Fædrelandsvennen.
– We interpret the regulations so that now it is not allowed to take Danes and Norwegians with our ferries, Helge Otto Mathisen, Color Line’s executive vice president of Communications and Public Relations, tells the newspaper.
Fjord Line first allowed some private passengers. This was based on an interpretation that was opened for transit passengers, that is, for those who do not have North Jutland as a destination, but will only use the area for transit.
– Yesterday morning we received a new interpretation, where it is clearly specified that there is no opportunity for foreign ferries to carry passengers in transit, writes information advisor Flemming Hofmann Tveitan in an email on Thursday.
Although not open to private passengers, the exception also applies here to people who are destined to deal with socially critical functions, such as the police, defense, health personnel and emergency personnel. The reserve remains open for these, says Tveitan.
Update: An earlier version of this NTB case stated that Fjord Line allowed private passengers to travel with them and that shipping companies interpreted the rules differently. Since then, Fjord Line has stated that they changed their practice from Wednesday.
