Dimitar Berbatov believes that Solskjær uses the tough match schedule as an excuse for his poor performance.
After Manchester United beat Everton 3-1 on Saturday afternoon, Ole Gunnar Solskjær made headlines when interviewed after the match.
The normally sane Northerner overlooked the tight match schedule and was especially upset that his team had to play early Saturday morning after a midweek away game in the Champions League.
– The Football Association ordered us to lose. We got home from Turkey on Thursday morning and played very early on Saturday. It’s completely useless, he said after the match and continued:
– We were prepared to fail. I want to talk to you about the timing of the game. They set us up to fail. Today we injured Luke Shaw because we have been in Turkey and we have already played many games.

And Solskjær was right that Shaw was hurt. Manchester United confirmed on Tuesday that the Englishman has been out due to injury for a month.
I will not hear apologies
But not everyone believes that Solskjær’s criticism of the match program is justified. Dimitar Berbatov, who played for United from 2008 to 2012, believes that the problem is not the tough match schedule, but that Solskjær’s team is too unstable.
– This season is different, there are many games in a short time. Matches in the Premier League, in Europe and then all of a sudden the national team stays, but this cannot be used as an excuse, Berbatov tells Betfair according to the Daily Mail.
The former top scorer also takes the opportunity to make a short save at Solskjær.
– United have had tight match schedules for many years, in my time and even before my time. United are used to playing in the Premier League, in Europe and in the cups; we used to win them too, he says.
Berbatov also points out that the situation is not special for United, but that it is the same for everyone. The Bulgarian also believes that the match program cannot be used as an excuse for achievements on the field.

– There can be no excuses, the situation is the same for everyone. The performance just isn’t stable enough. They have to improve sooner or later because other teams are going to pass them, and they can end up being a real flop, he thinks.
– too unstable
When Berbatov played for Manchester United, the great club was led by the legendary Alex Ferguson. At that time, United were a great stable club. He thinks United is gone.
– It’s as if United had to be under pressure to win. But there is only a certain time when you can trade like this: they will not be able to win every time they are pushed.
The former United star is concerned about how it will end if United fail to stabilize.
– It won’t end well if they continue to be so unstable. The team needs to find stability and produce good football game after game, warns Berbatov.
At the same time, he believes that Solskjær still has confidence in the group of players.
– I still believe that players have faith in Solskjær and that they like him. I think he has their trust and they theirs. It’s something that just doesn’t work in fights when they lose.
Club football now has a break as the players are busy representing their national teams. Solskjær and Manchester United’s next game is in a week and a half at home against West Bromwich in the Premier League.
