The second corona eruption associated with the White House continues to grow.
Two more people were infected with COVID-19 after attending an election vigil at the White House on Election Day, writes CNBC.
Hundreds of people gathered in the East Room of the White House on the night of November 4. Few wore masks and sat close together. It was also here that Donald Trump delivered his sensational speech on Election Day, where he strongly opposed electoral fraud.
At least five people have been confirmed infected after the event.
Strong reactions: – Super spreader
Now it is political editor Brian Jack who has been confirmed infected, writes The New York Times and various other outlets.
Healy Baumgardner, a former political adviser, is also infected. She confirms the covid diagnosis to NBC News.
Five infected
Previously, they have been confirmed infected:
- White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows.
- Secretary of State for Housing Policy and Urban Development of the United States, Ben Carson.
- One of the top Trump campaign staff, David Bossie.
The AP news agency has described the election vigil as a possible “wide-spread event” and writes that it is “another symbol of Trump’s bold handling of the virus.”
Participants in the event should have been screened in advance, but it should not have helped rule out infection.
In reality, Trump had planned to host the election night party at the Trump International Hotel, but changed those plans when gatherings of more than 50 people were banned in Washington, as a result of the increasing number of infections.
Therefore, the party was moved to the White House, and the guest list was also reduced from 400 to 250 people, according to IBTimes.
After Trump’s election day speech, the meeting was referred to as a “covid party.” Professor and infection control expert Jörn Klein from the University of Southeast Norway confirmed to Dagbladet that this could be a “super spread event”.
Fear that Trump will reveal national secrets
stay away
The new outbreak comes shortly after more than 30 people were infected in late September and early October. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania were also diagnosed with the virus.
Most of the cases were linked to an event in Rosehagen in connection with the celebration of Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination as the new Supreme Court Justice.
Republican leader Mitch McConnell, 78, said in October that he had not been in the White House since August because of the virus. McConnell, the Republican leader in the Senate, has had polio before.
Beyond: – An ignorant idiot
He compared the White House to the Senate, where everyone must wear a face mask and keep their distance.
– My impression is that your approach to how the virus should be handled is different from mine, he said.
An investigation shows that Trump’s attitude toward the virus was a contributing factor to Joe Biden ultimately winning the election, according to Reuters.
“Dark winter”
Before long, Biden has assembled a crown team that will control the pandemic and the economy. Biden told a news conference Monday that Americans “have a very dark winter ahead” and that “the country is threatened.”
Biden estimates that another 200,000 lives will be lost before a vaccine is available.
In the lead up to Biden’s inauguration as president on January 20, 2021, the corona team will make a series of proposals on what Biden can do to stop the pandemic. Biden mentions, among other things, that they will do more tests and make sure the vaccine is free.
– I do not want to save anything to control the pandemic since I am installed as president. I want the children to go back to school and for society and the economy to recover.
