Almost all residents of the Eidsvoll nursing home have been confirmed infected with the coronavirus. The average age of those infected is 78 years.
Six other residents have been confirmed infected at the Villa Skaar nursing home in Eidsvoll municipality on Tuesday. This means that 19 of the 23 residents are infected, municipal chief physician Carl Magnus Jensen confirmed to VG on Tuesday night.
The infected residents have an average age of 78 years.
– I take this very seriously. So I hope there are still few symptoms, but we must prepare for the fact that the symptom picture may worsen in many of the residents who have been diagnosed with the disease, sadly, he says.
There are also 12 employees who are infected.
One of the infected neighbors died this Monday, the first death by corona in the municipality.

The first cases of infection in Villa Skaar were revealed on Tuesday, November 3. Later, three employees were infected. On the same day, they evaluated all residents and employees. Of these 70, 17 tested positive. Since then, several positive results have been obtained. A total of 31 people are infected in the nursing home.
Demanding situation
– It is very sad and heavy both for neighbors and their families and for employees who are in a working situation with infected employees and heavy tasks at work, with fewer employees than usual.
– Could it be a more contagious variant?
– It is not impossible, and these are things that we must investigate, says the doctor, who is now in dialogue with FHI.
Relationship to an outbreak in another nursing home
Two cases of infection have also been revealed at the Vilberg Helsetun municipal nursing home, which is related to the outbreak in Villa Skaar because an employee has worked in both places.
Those infected in Vilberg have been moved to a separate infection station in the nursing home. All residents and employees of the affected ward are tested every three days.
– If more people test positive, they will also be transferred to the infection station, says Jensen.
Eidsvoll Township now has an increasing tendency for infection, according to VG’s summary. The municipal chief affirms that the municipality has 54 cases of contagion as of November 1. This number is higher than the VG numbers because 13 of them tested positive in Gardermoen, that is, in Ullensaker Township. Therefore, they are currently not in the VG overview.
On Wednesday, the municipal council will have an extraordinary meeting to discuss local regulations on temporary measures to prevent the spread of covid-19 on Eidsvoll.
Jensen emphasizes that this is independent of the outbreak in the nursing home, but comes at the request of Health Minister Bent Høie that all municipalities with increased infection pressure should now consider local measures.
