In addition to the 11 positive test results related to the new outbreak, there is a positive entrance test that is not related to the outbreak, the Hyllestad Municipality writes on its pages.
The municipality believes that the outbreak has been limited, but that due to the magnitude of the crisis they have seen personnel and will implement measures in consultation with the shipyard.
– There is an outbreak associated with Havyard and we have had a crisis management meeting. For example, I cannot say anything more about the outbreak. We have to wait until we have a meeting with the shipyard, says Mayor Kjell Eide to NRK at 12:15.
This weekend, six new infections were discovered in Havyard. They were in quarantine from the start and came from an area with high infection. All those who tested positive were seen in isolation and close contacts are in quarantine.
Action can be taken
In recent days, the number rises to about 20 infected, says the mayor. He says the outbreak was not entirely unexpected.
– It was probably not surprising that there could be something else, but there are some more infections than we expected, says Eide.
The municipality, for example, has not implemented any additional measures, but says it can arrive during the afternoon.
The municipality has called a press conference at 16 where they will tell more about the outbreak in Hyllestad.
High level of infection
The shipyard has been hit hard by corona infections from foreign workers. More than 100 employees tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this fall, and Hyllestad had an infection level of one hundred red gongs. Many of the employees were caged in barracks and several of the isolates were transferred to a hotel in Bergen.
The shipyard has also been in financial trouble for some time, and in early November news came that the shipyard was downsizing and that more than 100 employees will lose their jobs next year.
In the municipality of 1,500 inhabitants, more than 700 people have been quarantined for corona outbreaks.
