Bergen yesterday introduced the most intrusive measures since March.
Yesterday, 103 new cases of corona were recorded in Bergen. Today there have been 89 other cases of contagion, said Councilor Roger Valhammer at a press conference at 2:00 p.m.
This is the second highest number reported after yesterday’s peak of infection.
– If we do not step on the handbrake hard now, we are on our way to total closure, says the town hall leader.
– The number of infected in Bergen in the last 14 days breaks all records, he also says.
The municipality of Bergen now has an infection rate of 290 per 100,000 inhabitants. The figure is four times higher than in March and twice as high as in September.
Closed in Oslo and Bergen
Close before
The city has decided to close all gyms and restaurants must close at 10pm, Councilor Roger Valhammer (Labor Party) told a press conference on Friday.
Sports halls and swimming pools should also be kept closed.
In addition to the fact that pubs, restaurants, cafes, canteens and other restaurants must close before 10 pm, the discharge must stop starting at 9:30 pm.
Mandatory home office
The number that can meet in private meetings is reduced from ten to five people, including those living in the home. Families of more than five people are excluded and cohorts of children in kindergarten and school are also excluded. You must keep guest lists on an equal footing with public organizers.
The use of a home office is mandatory whenever possible. The exceptions apply to socially critical services, services within mental health, as well as services for vulnerable groups of children and young people, indicates the municipality.
– The measures in Oslo and Bergen are necessary and correct, said yesterday the Minister of Health, Bent Høie.
Norway’s strictest measures
Decisive phase
– Now everyone must do what we can to limit social contact to a minimum, says Health Councilor Beate Husa.
– There are many infections that are being detected now, and there is reason to believe that the actual numbers are still much higher than what is detected, says Medical Director Trond Egil Hansen.
– The risk that some of those you know are contagious increases significantly compared to before, he says.
He says Bergen is now in a crucial phase to reverse development.
