On Friday, Oslo and Bergen introduced strict infection control measures.
In Bergen, a ban on public events with more than 20 people has been introduced. Events without fixed seats are prohibited. In Oslo, all indoor events have been banned for the next three weeks.
The measures in Oslo will currently last three weeks, while those in Bergen will last two. Jan Fredrik Karlsen, Kurt Nilsen’s manager, says the measures currently have no consequences for Nilsen’s Christmas tour. Kurt Nilsen will have two concerts at the Oslo Spektrum and ten at the Grieg Hall in Bergen in December.
– These measures say everything about the seriousness of the situation in which we find ourselves. We must relate to what the authorities say. From now on, we will start a tour on November 26, and so far there are no measures that have any effect on this, Karlsen tells Dagbladet.
Karlsen does not want to answer if he thinks they will have to cancel the tour.
– We must relate to what may eventually develop There is a violent situation we are in, he says.
Desperate: – It’s the door hook
I have more than 13 million
Last week, it was announced that the new incentive program of the Ministry of Culture for the cultural sector had distributed its first crown.
Biggest recipient: Kurt Nilsen and his 26-concert Christmas tour, which was sponsored with 13.3 million out of a 500 million jackpot, which is administered by the Norwegian Cultural Council, VG wrote.
Kurt Nilsen’s team has always been preparing to complete the tour. The Christmas concerts will be held at the Oslo Spektrum in December, a stadium that has a capacity for more than 10,000 spectators. Karlsen told Dagbladet that they plan to tour large concert halls as well.
– We will welcome 200 spectators to Spektrum. It will be a completely unique and special experience, and it will complement the situation we find ourselves in, Karlsen said.
– We will not cancel
Do not return
Labor Party cultural policy spokesperson Anette Trettebergstuen says Abid Raja must come to the fore to save the cultural sector from this crisis.
– We have said that there has been a crisis since March. That crisis has intensified today. We see that cultural life is on a broken back, and they will not handle this round if the government does not come out during the day and say it will accept the bill, he tells Dagbladet.
In an email to Dagbladet, Culture Minister Abid Raja (V) writes that the government is closely following developments and is assessing the continued need for changes and adjustments in compensation schemes.
– We will examine the need to adjust and increase the schemes if necessary. I fully understand that this is a demanding situation for actors in cultural life.
– At the same time, it is the case that if the events that have received subsidies from the incentive plan cannot yet be implemented due to orders from public authorities, the organizer does not have to reimburse what applies to unavoidable financial obligations Raja continues.
