The case is being updated.
On Thursday, November 5, 14 new corona-infected people were registered in Trondheim. 1515 tests were performed, which is the most tests in one day in Trondheim.
– There is a NTNU student who has brought an infection from another part of the country. You have visited relatives. I think you should know that you can take the infection home with you, especially if you’ve been to the eastern region or Bergen, says municipal chief physician Tove Røsstad in Trondheim municipality.
– Exposes others to risks
On Thursday it emerged that six students had been infected at the same private party in Trondheim. From night to Friday, the police had to stop a student party in Øya where there were between 15 and 20 participants.

– What do you think of the student parties?
Not everyone takes recommendations so harshly, but that’s not exactly reserved for students. But having big parties these days puts you and others at risk. If we want to reduce the increase in infections that we are seeing now, it is essential to follow the rules and recommendations that exist. There should be no more than five at home with a private person, he says.
– What about the registration tests? Could it have an impact on the number of infections?
– There is no reason for tomorrow’s figures to be higher for that reason. Infection rates vary from day to day and are not a fixed proportion of how many we test, he says.

Unknown source of infection
Røsstad believes that Trondheim can still end the outbreaks, but that there is a constant replenishment of new infections.
Of the 14 people diagnosed with an infection, only one still has an unknown source of infection.
– He’s the student from Bybroen High School. We don’t know where the infection comes from, but it only took us a day to find out. We need to do more work on the case, he says.
None of those infected have been to discos or restaurants.
– That’s not what we’re worried about. The infection occurs mainly in housing associations, between partners or private social contexts. Right now we have contagion in various housing associations with foreign workers. The employer must ensure that foreign workers receive a proper quarantine place. They must be separated from others. It is very important that there is no spread, says Røsstad.

May be relevant with court orders
– Do you think infection rates will remain high?
– We don’t live on any isolated island. What happens in other parts of society will affect us, he says.
– Is it relevant with more orders?
– It could be if it becomes a more serious situation, he says.

– Go to a restaurant
– Can you go to a restaurant like the situation is now?
– Feel free to go eat at a restaurant, says the municipal chief, but adds:
– But do it with two or three people and not with a lot. Restaurants are good at ensuring safety, you think.
The Christmas season is just around the corner and Røsstad believes that people should be careful with the rules. In a private event, only 20 people can gather.
– The reason why the national authorities have set a limit of 20 people at Christmas dinners is probably the experience that there can often be a high consumption of alcohol at such events and that it is then more difficult to relate to the control of infections, he says.
