Two Poles are charged with aggravated robbery from billionaire Reidar Osen and Petter Slengesol in 2015.
For the first time, the public heard one of the defendants’ explanations.
In 2015, the 36-year-old Pole was unemployed and in debt to a criminal group.
According to him, one way to repay the loan was to get involved in the Osen and Slengesol kidnappings.
The 36-year-old admitted to being involved in the assault on Petter Slengesol. But according to him, he was only the driver of three men, whom he drove to meet Petter Slengesol.
The remuneration was 4,000 crowns easy to earn for a couple of hours of work.
The Pole claims that he himself thought that Slengesol should only be bullied, and was shocked by the violence that later became known.
It should affect the Romanian environment
In October 2015, he first heard about plans to kidnap billionaire and art dealer Reidar Osen.
The client was Osen himself, the 36-year-old defendant claims.
He claims that Osen’s motive was to attack a Romanian environment that Osen had loaned another 500,000 crowns. The accused Pole believes that Osen organized a kidnapping because he did not get the money back. The idea must have come from the 32-year-old co-defendant.
– Reidar was obsessed with taking them away, said the man in court.
By blaming the Romanian environment, he was going to make the police chase them. At the same time, Osen was to receive protection from the police against the Romanians, according to the defendants.
Osen refutes everything.
– I have not heard anything like that, it was crazy. It is amazing what they have managed to cook together. You cowardly rats! I’m totally surprised, he replies.
In court, Osen spoke about skiing holidays in Switzerland and Austria, New Year’s Eve in Paris and the sale of properties with 30 million earnings.
“Why the hell should I have done this?” Osen asked rhetorically.
– Beat each other with a baton
In the weeks before the kidnapping, the Poles had scouted Osen to map his movements, the 36-year-old claims. Among other things, they had bought a GPS tracker that they placed under their car.
– If I was there, then they could ask me where I was, Osen responds.
The 36-year-old further said he received 50,000 crowns for being something of an extra in the kidnapping. It was to be performed together with the 32-year-old man and another man.
The kidnappers are said to have obtained a rubber baton, which the Polish police are said to have used in the 1970s.
With the baton, the men must have hit each other to see how hard and how many times they had to hit to leave visible marks.
– We had to do some damage to Reidar, so that he could say that he was subjected to violence, said the 36-year-old.
Osen was hospitalized with injuries that were described as critical. For several months after the abduction, he urinated blood and wore an ankle bag.
Police rule out Osen ordering the kidnapping
Police do not trust the explanation that Osen himself ordered the kidnapping.
– This is an explanation you have given before. Based on the investigation, we think we can rule out that this is the case, says police attorney Jørgen Henriksen, who is the prosecutor in the case.
On Friday the questioning of the 36-year-old accused will begin.
– We have to ask him about things for which he has no answer. They’re not that smart, Osen says.
Osen believes it undermines his reputation when the accusations against him appear in public.

I got to see those who supposedly kidnapped him: – I see they have a bad conscience
