Republican David Andahl, 55, was running for the Bismarck district in North Dakota.
He passed away after complications related to covid-19 in early October, but his name remained on the ballot papers.
The election results now show that Andahl, along with Republican Dave Nehring, has been elected as a district representative in the North Dakota House of Representatives. Reports Fox9.
According to the Star Tribune, which mentioned that his name should still be on the ballot after death, the Republican party in the state can name a replacement in his place.
Brant for farmers and the coal industry
This fall, North Dakota has been one of the worst affected states in the entire United States. According to Andahl’s mother, Pat Andahl, the son must have been ill for about four days and was hospitalized for the same period of time before he had to surrender.
According to the AP news agency, the mother says the son had been “very careful” in controlling infections.
The 55-year-old obituary tells of a farmer and landowner with several irons on fire. Its commitment lies mainly in agriculture.
– He felt a lot for his country. He wanted to improve things and his heart was in agriculture. He wanted the situation to improve for farmers and the local coal industry, the mother told the local newspaper The Bismarck Tribune after the death, according to AP.
