Oslo has recorded the highest number of corona infections in history. 161 new cases of contagion have been registered in the last 24 hours, according to new figures from the municipality. Oslo Health Councilor Robert Steen (Labor Party) does not want the capital to end up where other major cities in Europe are now.

– Although Oslo sometimes has the strictest measures in Norway, the infection is also increasing here. I am very concerned and indicate that many do not follow infection control rules.

The infection in Oslo is now higher in the Stovner district, where 348 per 100,000 inhabitants have been registered as infected in the last 14 days. Steen emphasizes the importance of everyone taking responsibility.

– We must keep our distance, keep our hands clean and reduce the number of people we meet. I know this is difficult for many, and especially for those who live alone. But we have no choice, we must stop the infection while we can.

October has the highest number of recorded cases of infection per month so far in the pandemic with 1,885 infections. During week 44, a total of 722 cases were registered, an average of 103 per day.

It is still most contagious among young adults.

Most of the cases of infection in the capital occur among people who live together. Many cases of infection with an unknown site of infection have also been recorded. There has been an increase from 96 to 179 cases in one week.

Works for airport testing requirements

The municipality of Trondheim now performs coronation testing of about 6,000 people per week, but believes that testing capacity needs to be further expanded.

The message to neighbors is clear: more people should work from home, avoid physical gatherings, reduce joint meetings and take only the necessary travel, according to Wolden.

It is also working with other municipalities to look for possible legal sources to be able to require foreign travelers to undergo tests at the airport. This has previously been advocated by the Trondheim municipal chief.
