Election officials in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin indicate that state results will not be ready on Election Night.
After Trump scored a solid victory in Florida, the outcome in the three Midwest states will likely be decisive for the outcome of the presidential election.
The delayed vote count means that the answer on who will be the next president of the United States will likely be delayed.
– They will probably be absolutely crucial. Neither Trump nor Biden can get a majority without these states, US author and expert Thor Steinhovden tells TV 2.
History repeats itself
He notes that the three states were also crucial in 2016, when Trump surprisingly beat the traditionally democratic states in the Rust Belt.
– In that sense, it is like 2016 again. The difference this time is that it is an advantage of Biden and not of Trump, since he is prepared to recover the states of the Republicans, says Steinhovden.
None of the states have had the opportunity to count votes in advance and by mail before Election Day, which means a large backlog of votes.
Wisconsin initially expected to have the results ready between 03 and 06 US time. Problems with accountants make this difficult, according to the New York Times.
In both Michigan and Pennsylvania, you may have until Friday to get final results.
I may have to wait until Friday
So far, Pennsylvania has counted about 75,000 out of a total of 400,000 mail-in ballots. A new proportion of mail ballots will be counted between 06-07 Norwegian time, but the majority of the votes will be counted.
Trump currently has a solid lead over Biden in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. The large back-up of votes by mail means current results cannot be emphasized, according to Steinhovden.

The fact that the outcome in Pennsylvania, and therefore potentially the entire presidential election, may not be clear until Friday, may create unrest.

Also, it appears that the result in Georgia will not be ready until Wednesday morning US time at the earliest.
