Outside the White House, in Black Lives Matter Plaza, several protesters have gathered, most of them to express their dissatisfaction with the acting president.
According to NBC Washington, there have been disputes between supporters of the various parties. Local authorities have arrested three people.
Many expect trouble in Washington DC and have nailed particle board in front of shop windows. Fences are put up around the White House.
“Eliminate Trump”
The demonstrations have been largely peaceful. But as the results came in, the mood changed.
Several have signs and banners that say, among other things, “Trump lies all the time” and “eliminate Trump.”

Washington, DC, police are on the alert to prepare for the elections.
– It is not clear if we will get results tonight. We may have to wait until later in the week. So we don’t know exactly what will happen, Police Chief Peter Newsham tells NBC Washington.
3600 soldiers
So far, election night in the United States has been a very exciting one, with Trump apparently winning the important state of Florida. The authorities are prepared for the results of the elections to generate unrest.
So far, the National Guard has ordered 3,600 soldiers to many of the country’s states. They can be inserted at short notice if noise occurs.
In Texas, the military is prepared for riots in the capital, Austin.

Fox News reports that Chicago is also preparing for trouble.
“We’ve made sure the National Guard is ready,” Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker told Fox.
Quiet at the polls
With a record number of early votes cast, not as many have been cast as usual on Election Day.
This despite the fact that one of the largest turnouts is expected around the US presidential election.
Both the New York Times and direct updates from the Washington Post have reported calm conditions at the polls.
