The preliminary survey shows that Rana ungdomsskole’s 9th and 10th grade students and staff are affected. Since last week, eighth grade employees and students have been affected by previous outbreaks.

Therefore, Rana Township, in consultation with the National Institute of Public Health and the county governor, has decided that all students and school staff will stay home on Wednesday.

This is done to give the infection detection team a better time for mapping, the municipality writes in a press release.

– We have received positive test results, which means that more students and staff of Rana ungdomsskole are affected, says director of communications Connie Slettan Olsen in the municipality to NRK.

– Is it relevant to close more schools?

– It may be relevant, but the additional survey will give us answers to that. So far, it’s only Wednesday, so we’ll see what happens.

Unclear

This applies to students and staff from both the Mo department and the Moheia department. Students and staff receive more information directly from the school.

According to the Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training, the school is the largest in Norway and has just over 800 students.

On Monday, the municipal chief physician, Frode Berg, requested that all events planned in the municipality be canceled this week.

– It is clear that the Rana community is affected by the situation in which we find ourselves now. The situation at the moment is a bit confusing. Both the school and others are affected by this.

Relieve Mo and Frog

This week, the Nordland County Municipality has also strengthened public transport.

The county’s director of transport and infrastructure, Odd Inge Bardal, encourages all Rana and Bodø passengers to explore alternative transport possibilities.

– When the situation becomes like this, we will have to tighten the measures in public transport and look for opportunities to relieve in pressure areas such as Mo i Rana. We will do what we can, but we are also completely dependent on the help of passengers, county council leader and crisis leader Tomas Norvoll said Monday.
