STRØMSGODSET – VÅLERENGA 0-2:

Vålerenga maintains some contact with the medal places in the Eliteserien after a recipe-based away win against a weak Strømsgodset in Drammen.

Henrik Bjørdal (23) scored the first goal of the match in the 15th minute at Marienlyst. A cross from the right left Vidar Örn Kjartansson alone in front of the goal after 17 minutes, but his shot went awry.

In the second half, VIF defended well against coach Dag-Eilev Fagermo’s former club, keeping most of Godset’s attempts at a safe distance from his own goal.

With just a quarter of an hour to go, right-back Christian Dahle Borchgrevink (21) took the long and heavy run around Aron Dønnum (22) when Vålerenga responded, and earned a solid reward for it with a goal.

– Must be all the way

– Three points always know, and we need three points if we want to be where we are now. Team morale at Vålerenga has been excellent from day one. We are strong at home, and now we have two in rap away, so we’ll be fully involved, says Fagermo of the medal match.

On VIF’s second goal, Dønnum realized Borchgrevink’s initiative inside Godset’s field.

The ball was passed before Borchgrevink made it 0-2 from an acute angle.

– This is how you do it, Christian Borchgrevink. He got a ball in the side, Kenneth Fredheim commented on Borchgrevink on the Eurosport broadcast of the game.

Hugs

A few minutes earlier, Dønnum was caught up in a heated discussion with Mikkel Maigaard from the hosts. After several obvious shirt-tugging incidents, Kai Erik Steen landed his signing.

Strømsgodset and Kristoffer Tokstad tried to respond, but when the opportunity arose, VIF goalkeeper Kristoffer Klaesson stopped the attempt from the edge of Godset.

Valdimar Ingimundarson was also unsuccessful in his attempt shortly after.

Thus, he finished with three points for the guests who still maintain the distance to Molde and Rosenborg in the medal places behind the magnificent Bodø / Glimt.
