Meteorologists have issued a yellow warning.
On Sunday evening, meteorologists reported that recent forecasts give a yellow warning for high water levels along the entire Norwegian coastline from the Swedish border to Ålesund.
“From Sunday night to Monday afternoon, high water levels are expected, estimated at 40-60 cm above the height indicated in the tide tables, in combination with high waves,” the forecast indicates.
The reason is a combination of a cool full moon (yesterday), strong low pressure on the way, and some winds on land. The water level is expected to be at its highest level from 01-23 pm to Monday and Monday 11-13 pm.
According to the Mapping Authority’s forecast, the water level should be at its highest around midnight, 206 centimeters above zero on the chart. It is a sea level that you can expect in Bergen at intervals of one to five years.
Just before midnight Sunday night, the water passed outside Bradbenken by Bryggen. The levels are nowhere near the storm surge in February this year, which was the second highest ever measured in Bergen.
Around midnight, an employee from the port of Bergen stopped by Bradbenken to check on conditions. He quickly concluded that it was relatively undramatic and moved on.
