Bytyqi’s dream match saved Viking: it may be lost for the club – VG

We have to go back to May 2016 to find the last time Stabæk beat Viking. The last seven deals in all the tournaments had either gone in favor of Rogalendingen or ended in a draw, and this time Stabæk failed to win.

– It was a very tough game, with many physical duels. It was as narrow as that, says Bjarne Berntsen of the Battle of Nadderud.

– I am satisfied with our performance. We were the best team during the first half and we created more after the break. “We met good opponents, but I am a little disappointed that we did not get another goal,” sums up Stabæk manager Jan Jönsson.

Fireworks from home fans lit up the stadium before the game, but not until a quarter of an hour before half-time did Luc Kassi set the game on fire. A magnificent draw from Zymer Bytyqi secured the split.

The Viking player was allowed to walk and walk over the edge, shooting undisturbed onto the field, before laying the ball perfectly on Sandberg in the far corner.

– I am determined, and I see the opening to shoot. “I have shown many times this year that I have a good shooting foot, and now I am giving it back,” Bytyqi tells VG about his artistic goal.

Viking number seven has an outgoing contract and may be lost to Viking after the New Year. According to Stavanger Aftenblad, he has not yet decided where he will continue his career.

– I have a couple of offers from abroad, but I have put everything aside. I spend a lot of time making up my mind. I focus on playing good football, so I make the decision about the future when I am ready for it, Bytyqi tells the newspaper.

– There is always the danger of losing good players. This is how football has become, so no problems, Berntsen tells VG.

Stabæk had three consecutive home wins before Viking came to visit, and they were also the best team in the first half. The home team was close to Edvartsen, Maatsen and Skytte, but had to wait half an hour before the ball entered the net.

Emil Bohinen had to endure the fight with the quarantine – short, not crown, that is – and in his absence Kassi took advantage of the opportunity. Darren Maatsen drove down the right wing, combined very well with his teammates and struck out Kassi. From outside 16 meters he squeezed and the ball twisted into the net.

– It was a nice evening for me. It was a good goal and I knew what Darren was going to do, because we had talked about it beforehand. So I knew what to do as well, says Kassi, who works with himself to be ready when he finally gets a chance at Jönsson.

Stabæk’s management was maintained for ten minutes. Bytyqi has scored several nice goals this season, and against Stabæk he made the YouTube highlight video even longer. A dream goal from a player who dares more than before on the field.

– I have worked a lot with the mental. Now I trust my instincts more, he says.

The wind created problems after the break. The forces of nature increased in strength through the break, and in the second half the ball was constantly thrown towards the hosts’ goal.

– It will be a special match when there is so much wind and it will lead to more duels, says Berntsen.

There was a long way between the chances in the second half, although he was not in the mood to attack. Kassi thought he had scored the second quarter tonight before the end, but despair was great when he looked at the lineman.

In extra time, both Gustav Valsvik Yaw Amankwah fell to the ground injured. The latter signaled a change and limped off the field. It is not known how long he will be away.

Already on Wednesday, Viking will play the pending match against Odd, which was postponed as a result of Veton Berisha’s crowned positive test. Stabæk’s next game comes next weekend, when Sandefjord is waiting.
