Ten people in Harstad tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday and Saturday. Most are close contacts in the ongoing outbreak, reports the Harstad municipality. Work continues to trace close contacts and the source of infection.
Here are the municipality’s five local infection control measures for the next seven days:
- The number of contacts during a week should not exceed 10 people in social settings, in addition to household members and kindergarten and class cohorts.
- Enhanced measures are expanded in nursing homes. Residents only get one visitor, and then the same person the following week.
- The home office may be considered for employees with tasks that do not require physical assistance for all or part of the work week.
- Hold fewer physical meetings at work.
- Everyone in the restaurant industry is encouraged to maintain guest lists manually or digitally.
Think more should be quarantined
– We are introducing these measures because we have an ongoing infection outbreak in Harstad and in all likelihood we believe we have an internal infection in Harstad. It is not clear where the infection is coming from, says Ømember Arvola, the municipality’s communications manager.
In the latest outbreak, 15 people in the municipality have been diagnosed with covid-19 and around 80 people are in quarantine.
– That this number will increase, we are pretty sure, says Arvola. The municipality hopes that Harstad residents will join the charity event to prevent more people from becoming infected.
Meets the construction industry
On Monday, the municipal management will have a digital meeting with the construction industry.
– We know this industry uses a lot of labor hired from other countries and we want to make sure they have good infection control routines and follow them.
Arvola has no information that the ongoing outbreak is from this industry, but that the municipality will have a dialogue to prevent infection.
The municipality of Harstad also opens the telephone against the pandemic on Sunday of kl. 1400–1800. In addition, the test capacity is adjusted, so that the vast majority get a test hour as soon as possible.
