FRP wants 50-year sentence in Norway – VG

– We want it to be more difficult to commit serious criminal acts in Norway and it should hurt to be a criminal. For this reason, we are in favor of sharpening the level of punishment and increasing the maximum penalty to 50 years. It is not only terrorist acts that should carry a much higher penalty, but also murder and other serious crimes, Listhaug tells VG.

He has chaired the program committee that this Tuesday publishes its proposal for a new party program for Frp.

– I would especially like to highlight our proposals to better protect children from abusers. Unfortunately, too many children are exposed to many atrocities in the form of sexual abuse, both at home, in sports, and elsewhere. This is a problem in Norway, which is much more far-reaching than previously thought. Children inside and outside Norway are exposed to Norwegian pedophiles.

– Parents who have been convicted of mistreating their own children will be immediately deprived of the right to care and visits.

– There are not many examples of attacks on the police in Norway; Are these proposals inspired by the attacks on the police that we see in the United States?

– No, but we want to avoid such a development, as we see in Sweden. We do not want the violence that we have seen there to reach Norway. Ordinary police officers are also exposed to death threats in their homes. They have trouble recruiting police officers for the profession. Therefore, we believe that police officers should have identity protection in Norway. We must be careful.

– We don’t want Swedish conditions

She says that the development of gang crime points in that direction and that they will invest resources to prevent violent gangs from taking hold.

– We are scared by the violence perpetrated by criminal youth gangs. It is not only about Oslo, but we also see it in Romerike, in Kristiansand and Drammen.

– We also see that younger people are increasingly recruited into these types of gangs, so we want to reduce the minimum criminal age to 14 years. We also propose to allow greater use of unconditional incarceration against offenders under the age of 18.

She says that a minority in the sample will not lower the minimum age.

Listhaug says they generally want to make it harder to be a criminal.

– We propose to reduce the use of conditional prison; The incarceration imposed will be fully served and we will eliminate the current quantity discount by sentencing for various offenses.

– There is not much crime in Norway: is it really necessary to adopt the austerity measures you propose?

– We promote these proposals because we want to avoid such development that we see in other countries. We don’t want Swedish conditions, where resettlement costs many lives. Earlier this year, an innocent 12-year-old girl had to pay with her life when she went out to ventilate the dog.
