National team coaches Lars Lagerbäck and Alexander Sørloth have been talking about the noise lately, saying they have been laughing out loud.
The Norwegian Football Association press release is signed by Alexander Sørloth, national team captain Stefan Johansen, assistant coach Per Joar Hansen and Lars Lagerbäck. They claim the following on the NFF website:
Alexander has understood that the form of communication was wrong, which he regrets and we agree with the guidelines that apply to the national team.
Following the Serbian match, as is well known, a heated discussion ensued. In an acting culture, it should be high under the roof. This time the temperature was too high and the discussions got too far from both sides.
After Sunday’s meeting, the parties are busy leaving the case behind.
Alexander and the coaching staff emphasize that he has not said that the coaches are incompetent, but Alexander regrets that he argued in a way that makes them perceive him that way.
Both Alexander Sørloth, the technical team and the captain team have spoken together and are ready to put the matter behind us and focus on the next international matches. ” concludes the statement by Sørloth, captain of the national team and coaching duo.
Norway’s next international game will be played on November 11 against Israel. On November 15 and 18 await the League of Nations matches against Romania and Austria. Norway is number two in their group, behind Austria in mutual deals.
There has been a storm around the national team after VG revealed details about the heated discussions following the defeat of Serbia. See the timeline of what happened here:
In closed-door meetings, Sørloth is said to have expressed that he thought Norway should be better prepared to play Serbia’s 3-4-2-1 formation, and that a more offensive approach should be taken in this and other matches.
In the discussion about the Serbia match, Lagerbäck drew a boom from Sørloth from a match against Cyprus in 2018. It all must have ended in a strong fight.
– How dare you, who missed an open goal against Cyprus two years ago, to say anything? Lagerbäck said.
In the evening, the parties had a reconciliation meeting with the captain of the national team Stefan Johansen present.

Following the press leaks, both Lagerbäck and Sørloth presented their editions of the meetings in public, but their versions did not match each other. The Swede called Sørloth’s behavior “unacceptable”, while the forward responded with a press release through his agent, Morten Wivestad.
After yesterday’s Bundesliga win over Hertha Berlin, Sørloth declined to comment on the noise:
-I am very happy and I do not want to comment on anything beyond that, said the Leipzig player to Viasat.
Gøran Sørloth asked the parties to “stop this lubrication”, which the press release claims they have already done.
