Junker is Norway’s smartest forward – VG

– There are many good attacking players in Norwegian football. But we have the smartest of all: Kasper Junker; Not only does he score anyway, he does others good too, Glimt’s coach Kjetil Knutsen tells VG after three new points have been secured at Aspmyra.

Junker, this time placed on the edge; It certainly didn’t matter that much – he scored two anyway.

– The feeling was that it was the right solution when Philip Zinckernagel was not ready, because Junker has the intelligence to solve the task in the best way, explains Knutsen, who had given free rein to the Dane, on the defensive.

– We hit well, concludes Knutsen. I wanted to use Victor Boniface as a forward, because he is extremely good at holding the ball, something that would be important against a physically strong Mjøndalen.

The winner of the match himself admits that he prefers to play as a forward, but that of course he would help the team, regardless of position.

– I scored in two important moments. And this victory was important. We’re getting closer, says Kasper Junker, to 14 league goals now.

It is not always so easy to “win games”. But Bodø / Glimt fixed it, on the fly. It will probably only take two more wins, a maximum of three, before series gold is secured.

– We knew it would be difficult and tight. Last year we played 0-0 against Mjøndalen in Aspmyra. Our goal was that we shouldn’t get frustrated because they delayed time and got a lot of stops in the game. I feel like we did a good job. We fight to get into the fight. And some games have to be like this too, the most important thing was to win, and we did it, says Glimt’s day captain Patrick Berg.

It smelled good for Glimt towards Mjøndalen. Relationships didn’t sit down as usual, they were longer between good, classic Glimt attacks. Good teams are also usually lucky. Glimt had it when referee Marius Hansen Grøtta conceded a penalty kick after a quarter of an hour. The referee thought Marius Høibråten had been brought down by former Glimt player Ole Amund Sveen.

The images show that he was sentenced very strictly, and that the judge had to leave the whistle in that situation.

Kasper Junker had, however, two chances from the penalty spot as two Glimt players ran less than 16 meters in the first. Scored on both. 1–0 Glimt.

Mjøndalen, with a strong tail wind, got two big chances, both from Sondre Liseth. On both occasions, the culprit of the match against Molde, goalkeeper Nikita Khajkin, cleaned up masterfully. A little revenge for the Russian there.

Glimt failed to take advantage of the tailwind in the first half of the second half, but in the middle of the half, Ola Solbakken and Ulrik Saltnes each had their big chance, without outwitting Sosha Makani. Sondre Liseth had a third chance to score on Haikin, to no avail. And then the wind took hold, again, it helped Glimt in the attack, Ola Solbakken fought, fell, but the ball went to Kasper Junker who was suddenly left alone with goalkeeper Makani. The Dane, in a role of unknown edge in the absence of his roommate Philip Zinckernagel, was not wrong. Glimt 2-0, and victory, the 19th in 22 games, seemed certain.

Eight games left. Glimt leads with 16 points. It takes another earthquake to deprive Bodø of its first league championship now.
