Alnestinden is a popular trip located by Trollstigen, at 1665 meters above sea level.
– I can confirm that there has been an avalanche on the northeast slope of Alnestinden. It has not been confirmed if anyone has been caught by the avalanche, but there are between 10 and 15 people on the slope and on the road, says Jan Lillebø, rescue manager at the Sunnmørsposten Main Rescue Center.
Great resources sent to the place
According to Lillebø, it is the police who coordinate the action.
Two air ambulances have been dispatched to the scene, one from Ålesund and one from Dombås. In addition, a rescue helicopter was dispatched from Florø. This helicopter lands in Hovden (Ørsta-Volda airport) and picks up crews in Sunnmøre Alpine rescue group.
Operations manager Tove Anita Asp in the Møre og Romsdal police district tells Sunnmørsposten that there have been reports that the landslide is approx. 100 meters above the parking lot.
– I don’t know the width of the landslide, but it is approx. 50-100 meters high, according to our information, says Asp.
– Who reported the landslide?
– There were some of those who were standing in the parking lot who saw that there had been a landslide. We have not been able to contact them on the mountainside due to lack of mobile coverage, says the operations manager.
She confirms that between 10 and 15 people have been reported in the area, but the police also do not know if anyone has been captured by the avalanche.
– Have ski slopes been observed inside or outside the avalanche zone?
– There are many ski slopes. There are between 10 and 15 people who have skied on the side of the mountain, so it is difficult to tell.
