On Wednesday night, there was a robbery at the bar of Per Sandberg (60) and Bahareh Letnes (30) called “Grand Bar” in Halden.

Thus, the couple was surprised when they arrived for work on Wednesday afternoon. Sandberg explains to the newspaper that the room was packed and that everything from food and wine to speakers and pens was gone. However, he notes that nothing of great value has been stolen from the bar.

– We are very happy that nothing has been destroyed. But we think it’s incredibly disgusting that someone was working here last night, Sandberg told the newspaper Wednesday night.
Two people arrested
According to Sandberg, it appears that the thieves did not take everything when boxes and bags were left on the floor of the bar. However, they managed to snatch a blueberry pie from the freezer.
Now two people have been arrested after the robbery and, according to the newspaper, police were notified of the robbery at 2.30pm on Wednesday afternoon. They were at the bar half an hour later to conduct a crime scene investigation.
Director of Operations Lisbeth Mjøsund explains to Halden Arbeiderblad that two people were later found with objects that could be linked to the crime scene.
The bar in question opened Letnes and Sandberg in mid-May. The opening of the bar had been exposed three times due to the coronavirus.
Dagbladet was present for the big moment, and the cohabiting couple, who live in Halden, were clearly proud when the first crown arrived in the box.

Letnes, for his part, was a little calmer than his partner, and thought that the opening would go well.
– If we make a mistake, I think people will understand. This is the first time that we are going to run a bar, and we cannot do everything one hundred percent. But we learn from our mistakes, he said at the time.

A few months later, it emerged that the couple had plans to expand the operation. On Sandberg’s official Facebook profile, he revealed that Letnes would also open a restaurant connected to the “Grand Bar” and the Grand Hotel.
In the Facebook post, it was stated that the restaurant would open on June 12.
“The hotel also opens for summer operations on June 12. How about a great weekend at the Grand Hotel and Bar? Bring the whole family, we have 32 rooms, ”Sandberg continued.
Sandberg told Dagbladet that they have a three-year contract, where their first step was to open the bar, but that they also have a restaurant and kitchen rental, which was due to open on June 12.

– What kind of restaurant will it be?
– It will be an Asian restaurant with Persian, Thai and Chinese food. It is the Asian cuisine that uses more spices, herbs and different types of meat. Asian cuisine is my favorite. It’s exciting and very good, Letnes told Dagbladet.
Additionally, Sandberg said they had planned to open the restaurant for a long time, and that they had scheduled the opening when Grand Hotell opened for the summer.
Letnes explained that she was primarily responsible for planning the restaurant.
– I have worked in the restaurant industry before and I know a little more about food. I know a lot about Asian dishes, and it has always been a great dream for me to have a restaurant and a bar, and now both of my dreams have come true. I’m really looking forward to it, he said.
