The NRK show “Beat for beat” has been on television every year since 1999 and has been an important part of Gullrekka. After this spring’s season, NRK decided to wait to order new episodes of the show. Therefore, it is unclear when a new season will be produced and broadcast.
“Beat for beat” project manager Stian Malme tells Dagbladet that the situation is not dramatic.
– The program schedule changes slightly from year to year. “Beat by beat” has been a mainstay for 20 years, and probably will continue to be. This fall, it’s “Family Honor” going, and then there will be some other projects on Fridays. So “Beat a beat” will probably come back stronger next year, says Malme.
He continues.
– It’s about renovation and we want to try other things too, besides “Beat a beat” which we know works very well.
– We will not cancel
– Too
Atle Pettersen took over as host of “Beat for beat” for Ivar Dyrhaug in 2016. He answers yes and no to questions about whether he understands NRK’s decision.
– Although I have worked there, and long before, “Beat a beat” has not had a poor audience, or has not fulfilled the work that we are supposed to do. I think it’s a shame for everyone in the production that we’re not allowed to continue the good work we’ve done, which we all think is a lot of fun. Of course, I can also understand that NRK has a desire to test new concepts.
I was notified early
Describes the process with NRK on wait for production as ordered.
– We were informed from the beginning that there will be nothing until the fall. So we are waiting for an answer on when we will have the opportunity to do it later.
Pettersen says he has received several questions about whether the show will return.
– People think it’s a shame we don’t go back to the screen right away, says Pettersen.
– Never taken for granted
Pettersen says that if there is a new season next year, he will be motivated.
– It has been a lot of fun in the last few years, where you realize that it has been less and less scary for the artists to participate. People also want to join. That’s what I love about work. I listen to shitty people and discover new talents. I hope we can do a new season, so we can maximize the potential that is in the show, says Pettersen.
Also, continue.
– We have known for many years that we have to receive an order again every year. We have never taken it for granted that we will be allowed to “beat by beat” indefinitely. So we’ve been very concerned that we do really good shows, which makes people want to watch the show.
When asked if it is relevant to stop “beat by beat” forever, Malme responds.
– No, it’s not.
Will save Christmas concerts
Motivated for a new season in 2021
Although there will be no season this year, Pettersen has a plan for what he will do for the rest of the year.
– “Beat a beat” is just a part of my entire working year. I mainly do things on stage. So I choose to see it as an opportunity to complete a series of projects that I haven’t had time for before.
In 2020, he will release a Christmas album and go on a Christmas tour.
– Now there is a full focus on albums and Christmas tours. That’s where my head is now.
