On Thursday morning, the fire service was notified of an overheated house in Rishaugen in Aremark. The house caught fire and one person had not been accounted for.

Svein Brage Husdal, head of investigation in the Eastern Police District, now confirms that they have found the remains of a person in the ruins of the fire.

– We have found the remains of a person who will undergo an autopsy this Tuesday, says Husdal.

Technicians have investigated the site, after it was learned that a man disappeared after the fire.

– We believe it is the missing person who lived in the house, but it has not yet been finally confirmed, says Husdal.

According to the police, the relatives have been notified.

Unknown cause of the fire

At the same time, the police have been working on the scene to find the cause of the fire. The house was already on fire when firefighters arrived on the scene and carried out a controlled extinction.

Husdal confirms that they still do not know why the fire occurred.

– It is demanding to find a sure cause of fire when it is as burned as on site.

At the moment, no further work is being carried out on the ruins. Husdal says they continually evaluate what will happen next.
