This article is over a month old and may contain outdated advice from authorities on coronary heart disease.

Stay up to date on the NRK overview or on the FHI website.

– The situation is confusing, says the manager of the clinic, Jonas Valle Paulsen.

According to him, the hospital is in a vulnerable situation. Therefore, they have to eliminate much of the activity. Those with weekly hours will have hours postponed or moved to Alta or Karasjok clinics.

The hospital will still be able to receive patients who need emergency care. In addition, they will receive children and mothers, and will continue with cancer treatment and other treatments that cannot wait.

Patients leaving Hammerfest Hospital should be quarantined if they meet the requirements such as close contact with someone who has been diagnosed with an infection, according to chief infection control consultant Anne Mette Asfeldt of Finnmark Hospital.

It is not known where the infection came from, Asfeldt says during a news conference Sunday night.

– Many people have no symptoms of infection. Since we have an infection of this magnitude, we suspect that it may have burned in a person a few days before we had employees with symptoms.

Test all employees

All Hammerfest Hospital employees will be evaluated after the corona outbreak. In the first instance, close contacts and employees in the same department are tested as at least two proven cases. Then the health personnel and finally the administrative and technical personnel are tested.

– The tests will take place in the first half of next week, says Asfeldt.

As previously known, Helse Nord dispatches health personnel from across the region to assist in Hammerfest. Those attending are employees of the Helgeland Hospital, Nordland Hospital and UNN in Tromsø.

– Expect more positive responses

Hammerfest Township expects more positive test results, as they expect responses to between 50 and 80 corona tests.

In total, there are 15 infected in the municipality.

The municipality’s infection detection team today began mapping close contacts with the three newly infected.

Mayor Marianne Sivertsen Næss says it is difficult to have full control of the situation, but believes they will get a good overview in the coming days.

– We are prepared for what is called local outbreaks. When an infection is spread to an environment, it is very easy for it to spread to more people. Therefore, it is important that you do the infection tracking work as quickly as possible and get close contacts quarantined.

Despite the situation, the Hammerfest Municipality will not recommend the use of masks. The municipal chief believes that it is enough to keep your distance, wash your hands and test yourself for symptoms.

Ask residents to self-quarantine

Due to the situation at the Hammerfest hospital, the municipality of Porsanger has asked its residents who have been in the hospital after 4 October to call the health station. Those who have been in the Hammerfest hospital after October 8 must remain in quarantine for 10 days.

– This was because the principle was to get an overview of residents who could have potentially been exposed to the infection, the municipality writes on its website.
