Eirik Horneland ready as Brann’s assistant – NRK Vestland

Rumors that Horneland would take over as assistant began to flourish in local Bergen newspapers this week.

Horneland has been unemployed since he resigned as Rosenborg manager at the end of June.

The assistant coach position at Brann was vacated after Robert Hauge ended up as assistant coach at the club two weeks ago.

– Good news for us

– This is good news for us. We got a professionally trained man. We have someone who knows Norwegian football very well and we have a very nice guy, says sporting director Rune Soltvedt.

Brann and Horneland have signed contracts until 2022

– I’m looking forward to it, it will be incredibly interesting. There are high ambitions at Brann and I hope to be part of further development, says Horneland himself.

Why did they hire Horneland?

– When I realized that it might be possible for me to put it in, there was never any doubt. We are different, and that’s the most important thing, says head coach Kåre Ingebrigtsen.

Are you afraid that there will be many changes?

– There will be change. That is necessary. But we need to be careful about that and do it over time, says Ingebrigtsen.

Hard season

Together, Kåre Ingebrigtsen and Eirik Horneland have rented Rosenborg for more than 20,000 minutes on the track. Now they’ll rent Brann together.

Ingebrigtsen took over as coach in August this year, after Lars Arne Nilsen had to leave. Nilsen sat as coach for five years, but had to resign after poor results on the track.

The results, however, have not improved much for the Bergen club. When Nilsen passed the baton, Brann was in eighth place on the table. They are now in eleventh place. In eight games, Ingebrigtsen has taken five points.

Also, both Haugesund and Sandefjord can pass through Brann and send them to the 13th spot on Sunday night.

On Saturday, October 24, Stabæk Brann will visit the stadium.
