Jakob and Filip Ingebrigtsen were unable to catch up with 34-year-old Zerei Kbrom Mezngi during Hytteplanmila on Saturday afternoon.

The case is being updated!

During the Hytteplanmila on Saturday, Jakob Ingebrigtsen’s hope was to set a new Norwegian record in the Hole 10km race.

Last year, Jakob set a Norwegian record for a 10km street race at Hytteplanmila with a time of 27.54 minutes, but he had no chance of threatening that time in Saturday’s race.

The unknown Zerei Kbrom Mezngi got a hatch from Jakob and Filip Ingebrigtsen mid-race and beat the worthy brothers at Hytteplanmila.

Mezngi ran to victory in time 28.20. Narve Giljås Nordås was second with 28.28 minutes.

After the best ones finished and Jakob was still out of sight, it was speculated if he had broken the race towards the end. However, that was not the case. Jakob took it easy at the end and finished in time 35.05 min.

Filip Ingebrigtsen was number six in time 29.03 min.

Karoline Bjerkeli Grøvdal won the women’s race in strong time 30.32. It broke the previous record of 31.25 that it set in 2017.

No Norwegian woman has run faster in those 10 kilometers. Only one runner from Europe has run faster. Paula Radcliffe’s record is 30.21.

Ingrid Kristiansen had Norway’s previous best record of 30.57 set in 1989.
