In a Facebook post on Friday afternoon, NRK host Haddy Njie (41) writes that her mother, Mona Bryhni (65), is seriously ill. As a result of his mother’s illness, the 41-year-old has put all chores and activities on hold until Christmas.
“Thanks to everyone who contacted me about my book and regrets not having responded. Until Christmas, I will not do much more than be with those I love the most. In August, my mother suddenly became seriously ill,” he writes in the publication of Facebook.
This fall, Njie published the book “About 101 Things to Do with Kids,” but the book launch was postponed.
“The roles are reversed. Now we are the ones who take care of Mom. We try to do it as conscientiously as she has always taken care of us. So everything else has had to give. Among other things, launch of the book. Mom, as you know. everyone who knows her, she’s strong as a bear. She’s still moving forward. I’m infinitely grateful, “continues Njie.
Dagbladet has received permission to reproduce Haddy Njie’s post. It has no further comments beyond the post.
Host
Haddy Njie is the eldest daughter of Mona Bryhni (65) and Musa N’Jie. They also have Lisa Aisato N’jie Solberg (39), who works as an illustrator and author of children’s books.
In hindsight, the parents divorced and remarried on opposite sides. Musa N’Jie also has a daughter, Jankeh Lion Njie (26), from her second marriage.
Njie grew up in Kolbotn on the outskirts of Oslo and is a journalist by training at Oslo University College. The 41-year-old has been a program director at NRK for several years, and has also distinguished himself as a writer and composer, and has also been on the stage of the theater in the musical “Les Misérables” at the Folketeateret.
In June 2019, she married Labor politician Trond Giske (53) in a romantic ceremony at Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim. The guest list was packed with top politicians and other celebrities.
They have been a couple since 2014 and have a daughter María (4) together, who was born in March 2016. Giske also has a daughter Una from a previous marriage.
Published book
Last year, Njie published the book «Diary – December 13-13. February ‘which was about how she and her husband lived through the time Giske was accused of misconduct through various warnings to the Labor Party. In the book, he took a hard line with several key party politicians.
Now they are married
Giske regretted having “behaved in a way that individuals have experienced as inappropriate or unpleasant,” and admitted abuse in two cases. The process ended with the politician’s resignation as vice president in January 2018, although he also objected to several of the warnings and claimed they contained erroneous allegations.
When Giske ran as a candidate for the Trondheim Labor Party leadership in August this year, the affair flared up again. It all ended with Giske’s resignation and he announced that he would not stand for reelection in next year’s parliamentary elections.
