The apartment must have been turned upside down, the closets were open and the furniture was overturned. In the bedroom the light was on. On the bed lay the 58-year-old man killed with a series of stab wounds. The perpetrator was not in sight.
The police quickly launched an extensive investigation. Surveillance photos were collected and a suspect was observed leaving the building where Jostameling had an apartment. According to information from Dagbladet, the images were of good quality and should have shown Makaveli Lindén.

After leaving the apartment, the police followed the surveillance cameras to the train station a kilometer away. From there, the man took the train to Dijon in France.
With him, it is said that he had both valuables such as Jostameling’s mobile phone. It is said to have been used on the way, and Belgian police were able to locate Lindén, who was detained by special forces when he arrived in Dijon.
According to the Belgian police, the 58-year-old was a random victim and the murder has several similarities to the Majorstua murder. Belgian police have been in both France and Norway in an attempt to question Lindén, without success.

In addition to the murder in Majorstua, Lindén is accused of robbing a man in a parking lot near a bus where Paltto was found dead. According to information from Dagbladet, Belgian police are also investigating a robbery in Mechelen, shortly before Jostameling’s murder. A young student is said to have had his bicycle stolen, but he was unharmed from the incident.
Lindén is our only suspect in the case. We had people in Norway, and there the countries agreed that Norway had the first priority. When the trial is completely over in Norway, he will be transferred to Belgium. If Lindén is taken to Belgium after the trial in Oslo and sentenced there, he risks 30 years in prison. At the moment, however, the investigation and the case are on standstill, awaiting the outcome in Norway.

Lindén’s defense lawyer in connection with the Norwegian trial, lawyer Øystein Storrvik, confirms that the Belgian police were here and tried to question his client. The lawyer further says that the murder of Jostameling will not be an issue during the trial in Norway. It is not currently known whether Storrvik himself will get a role if Lindén has to appear in court in Belgium, and possibly what this role will be.
