Even if there is no rainfall, it can be dangerously slippery on the roads.
Temperatures have dropped noticeably across the country in recent weeks. In the south, autumn is making its entrance in earnest, while this weekend more are also receiving the first snows of this season.
Meteorologists are warning those with plans in the mountains of southern Norway on Twitter.
– Be prepared for scattered snow in the mountainous areas of the north and west, and that there will be more clouds in the areas of the east. Dress well, drive carefully, and have a nice trip.
More snow
In the north, snow has already fallen in many places, and this weekend temperatures will drop even further in several places. It will have an impact on the snow that will fall on Saturday.
– Until now, you have to climb a bit to find the snow, but during the weekend it will be cooler. Therefore, the snow that arrives on Saturday may remain a while ahead, report meteorologists on Twitter.
Meteorologists also warn those intending to go over mountain passes and ask motorists to be prepared for the conditions.
Danger warning
Also in central Norway this weekend there will be precipitation in the form of snow, and danger warnings have been sent for several places.
The snow hazard warning applies to MøreOgRomsdal, Trøndelag, Nordfjord, Rondane Dovrefjell / Svenskegrensa, Trollheimen, Jotunheimen, Helgeland and Salten. Snow arrives on Saturday and more than approx. 200-500 meters
– The weekend will be cool and windy in central Norway. In addition to the fact that many will receive the first snow of winter, it will blow well. The strongest wind will be on Saturday night. Feel free to secure loose items, and hold on to the hat / hat!
Warning
In eastern Norway, on the other hand, you can expect a sunny weekend, although the temperatures here are cooler.
– The Orientals will be the winners of the weather this weekend in southern Norway. In the west there will be more clouds and construction weather and in the mountains there will be snow. Sunday will be cooler throughout the region.
For western Norway, on the other hand, it will be sunny again on Sunday.
– After fantastic autumn weather in western Norway last week, the clouds are already back on Saturday. But don’t despair, because the sun will shine again on Sunday.
But even if there is no rainfall, it can also be slippery here in various places.
– Are you going to ride a bike or drive a car in the twig in the morning? Even if it hasn’t rained, it can be slippery in the morning! Moisture from rivers and water can form as an invisible layer on nearby roads, making it mirror-smooth. This is called “black ice” or klaris in Norwegian.
Low pressure on the road
During the week, there is little pressure on the road to southern Norway, and it will really be autumn weather, the meteorologist reports.
– Areas north of Stad and Dovre attract the longest straw and receive the least amount of rainfall and even some sun. Otherwise, just polish the rubber boots (if there’s anything you can do).
