The Norwegian Meteorological Institute has issued snow warnings in various places in the country this weekend. Snow is expected to arrive on Saturday. Møre og Romsdal, Trøndelag and the people of southern Nordland can expect white rain.

Snow hazard warnings apply from Stad and north to south of Nordland. The snow will arrive quite low, at a height of a few hundred meters, tells the meteorologist from the Marit Berger Meteorological Institute to ABC News.

Check the weather where you are

Berger claims that this is not a large amount of snow in total, but emphasizes that the aforementioned parts of the country will have their first snowfall this side of summer.

– This may be a little reminder for those in the south who have not yet switched to winter tires, says Berger.

– It can be a complete storm of short duration

The bottom of the precipitation is a low pressure that forms between Spitsbergen and Greenland, according to the meteorologist.

– Precipitation comes from the north and carries fresh air, which enters the coast of central Norway. There may be some wind on Saturday afternoon / evening. In addition to the snow, the wind can pose an additional challenge for those who will be driving. Wind is another reason to leave the car, Berger says.

We are talking about a wind force from a strong gale to a small storm.

– It can be a short-lived complete storm in a period when it is at its worst, says Berger.

This weekend’s weather winner

The Norwegian Meteorological Institute recommends on how to secure loose items in central Norway.

It is eastern Norway that will have the best weather this weekend. In southern western Norway, it is also likely to be a good weekend in terms of weather, but the temperature will drop across the country, the meteorologist claims.

– Troms and Finnmark will be cold and there is a danger of freezing temperatures. Sunday in our northernmost counties can still be quite good, especially in the interior areas, Berger says.
