In northern Norway, a snow hazard warning was issued at a yellow level in several places.
Locally, it can reach 5 to 10 centimeters in 24 hours, writes the Meteorological Institute.
Cold as ice
The snow line will change in the coming days. In the west of Finnmark and Troms there can be snow up to 200-400 meters, while in Nordland, north of Helgeland, the snow line will be 400-700 meters.
The lowest snow limit will be in eastern Finnmark, where there can be snow up to 100 meters above sea level. Here it can also reach up to 10 centimeters in the course of a day.
Winter tire alarm in the mountains
This week Nordavinden has taken Norway by storm. Earlier this week, meteorologists announced that northern Norway will have even colder air towards the weekend, when icy polar air takes over the region.
Towards the weekend, unusually cold air is blowing over the northernmost parts of our country, and we can get snow showers down to sea level in Troms and Finnmark.

For Nordlys, meteorologist Charalampos Sarchosidis says that all of northern Norway will have negative degrees as of Sunday and that the snow that arrives will likely remain.
– We receive cold air masses directly from the north to the north of Norway. From Sunday it will be less degrees. It looks like winter is here to stay, says Sarchosidis.
Meteorologists ask for a tire change, especially if you’ve thought of mountain passes.
