– We can issue warnings to make people aware that there may be snow in places where there hasn’t been as much snow this year, says state meteorologist Marit Berger of the Meteorological Institute.
This applies to northern Norway in the next few days, but it can also get cold in some places further south this weekend, if cold weather forecasts hold. Then it can snow.
Wintry in the north
Northern Norway will see low pressure, more wind and more rainfall this weekend.
– Now it’s colder in northern Norway. Over the weekend and perhaps next week, there will be more winter conditions, says the meteorologist. He adds that it is difficult to say exactly how low the snow line will be.
– But it’s nice to have switched to winter tires, remember those who haven’t yet.
The low pressure will be outside Lofoten. It brings with it rain, wind and fresh air. There will be lower and cooler temperatures over the weekend on the west side of the country. This applies both north of Stad, and a distance to the south that does not completely escape.
High pressure in the south
This week, Trøndelag will have onshore winds with more clouds and opportunities for rain, especially in the outer areas. They do not benefit from the high pressure that covers parts of southern Norway.
– But the temperatures will not be as low as in northern Norway. They are well placed on the positive side. Night frosts will not be a problem. Clouds at night are also expected to start between 6 and 7 degrees, Berger says.
Many parts of southern Norway have had very pleasant weather for several days. This will continue for a while longer, but will weaken over the weekend and inward next week.
– There is high pressure in the Atlantic Ocean, to the west of the country. There may be a change after the weekend with a change in the weather. Precipitation will occur first in Sørlandet, while in Østlandet it will be a little longer and here the good weather will last longer, says the meteorologist.
