A man was arrested by armed police in Overhalla in Trøndelag after attacking father and daughter with a knife.

A woman in her 30s and her 50-year-old father were taken to hospital with stab wounds.

Three minor children were inside the home where the stabbing occurred last night.

– We got an emergency call at 0.50, from a guy who said he was stabbed. She was also his daughter, Operations Director Wenche Johnsen at Trøndelag Police tells NRK.

The man in his 40s who has been arrested has a relationship with the injured, police say.

I tried to enter the house again

At the same time that the two in the house were in telephone contact with the police, the assailant tried to re-enter the house.

– They keep the door closed, says Johnsen.

The man then left the scene in a car.

– We had three patrols that moved and were armed, says Johnsen.

Not seriously injured

The main task of the police was to get the ambulance to treat the wounded safely.

The injured were taken by ambulance to hospital.

On Wednesday morning, Namsos Hospital confirmed that it had admitted a woman with stab wounds. She is receiving treatment and is hospitalized.

The injuries are described as “not serious” and, according to the hospital, she will likely be discharged during the day, writes NA.

The man in his 50s was sent to the emergency room in Namsos for a check-up, but was not sent to hospital for further treatment.

Neither of the two who were stabbed is seriously injured, the hospital said Wednesday morning.

Knowledge of the police

About half an hour later, the police observed the attacker, who is said to have stumbled upon a central discount and a placard before being detained by the police.

– They arrest him at a gas station, not far from where the victims were, says Johnsen.

The police have known the assailant before, and pepper spray was used during the arrest.

– They took him for a medical check-up before being arrested, say police.
