At 07.00 on Tuesday morning, many people were without electricity in eastern Norway. Up to 68,333 households were without power.
About 30 minutes later, the number had dropped to 52,000 households.
Power gradually returns to affected customers. According to Elvia’s website, only 1,000 customers were without power at 8.30.
Teams from Elvia and Statnett are working to correct the error, which occurred at the Statsnett transformer station at Tegneby in the Mosse area.
– We have teams at the station that, together with Elvia, are working to reestablish the network. We are working full time, press officer Marianne Veggeberg in Statnett tells NRK at 8.15.
Trains and hospitals were attacked
Most of the power outages occurred in Moss, where 27,000 homes were without power. In Indre Østfold, more than 18,000 households were without electricity, while in the municipality of Aurskog-Høland there were 285 households.
The fire brigade in the affected areas writes on Twitter that many contacted them after experiencing the power outage. Bane Nor reported delays on the section between Halden and Ski.
The ward at Østfold Hospital in Moss had to switch to emergency power.
– Outpatient surgery should postpone the start of the current surgical program until the power supply is normal, says communications manager Bjørn Hødal at Østfold Hospital.
The hospital district psychiatric centers in Moss and Indre Østfold were also affected by the blackout. These do not have an emergency power supply.
