On Monday, a large fire broke out in a large wooden building in Laksevåg in Bergen. One person was found dead in an apartment in the building.
Two people are now charged with negligent use of fire after the fire, BA reports.
The two defendants were in the apartment that caught fire, but were rescued alive.
Police were notified of the fire shortly after 1 p.m. Monday.
– It may appear that they have been near the fireplace, and they have been explained in a way that makes us want to get more information, says police lawyer on duty Arne Fjellstad to BA.
The two have been arrested and are now in police custody.
– Hopefully we get the clarifications we need quickly, says Fjellstad.
Remain in custody
At their own request, neither of them has been appointed as a defender, reports Bergens Tidende. Fjellstad told BT that he hoped the two could be released as early as Monday night, but then informs BA that they will likely be in custody until Tuesday.
– Tonight we are not completely finished, says Fjellstad.
It stresses that there is nothing in the investigation to indicate that the fire was started on purpose.
A total of five people were carried out of the burning house by smoke divers.
